Here are some simple tips on how to make protein ice cream using your ninja churner:  


  1. Start by adding your protein powder to the bowl of your ninja churner (16-ounce capacity).
  2. Then, add in your flavoring and sweetener of choice. If you're looking for a healthier option, try using stevia.
  3. Finally, add in some milk of your choice (I would recommend using almond milk).
  4. Close the lid on the ninja churner and ice cream maker and turn it on. Your protein ice cream will be churned in less than 30 seconds!

The Ninja CREAMi is a small food processor with a unique design that blends a nut milk bag with a small blender. It is but one small part of the Ninja family of appliances. While the CREAMi can make nut milk, it is not as effective or powerful as dedicated nut milk machines. I prefer to use a dedicated nut milk bag when making nut milk, but it is a cumbersome process and requires more work. With the CREAMi, creating nut milk is quick and easy! If you already own a Nutribullet or other blender, it may be redundant to purchase the CREAMi as well. The advantage to the CREAMi is that you may use it for more than just nut milk! It's small size makes it convenient for blending smoothies, pesto, and soups. I keep mine on my countertop for easy access 🙂 The Nutribullet is known for its quality and durability (I've had mine for 5 years now!), so there are no worries if that's what you're using!! The price of the CREAMi definitely reflects its size and limitations, but it's worth having around when you need to whip something up quickly!!


An ice cream maker can be used to make protein shakes, and the process is similar to making regular homemade ice cream. Simply combine all of the ingredients (proteins, fruit, ice cream or protein powder, additives such as chocolate or peanut butter, sweeteners, and other ingredients) in a blender and mix well. Then pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer's instructions. The protein shake recipe will take less time to freeze because of the addition of ice. While using an ice cream maker to make protein shakes, there are a few tips that can be followed to ensure that the final product is smooth and creamy:  

  • Use enough liquid so that the mixture does not become too dry. 
  • If using fresh fruit, frozen fruit can be used for added thickness and sweetness. 
  • Additives such as chocolate chips or peanut butter can be added during the last five minutes of mixing so that they do not become too hard.


The cream has a soft and smooth texture, while the powdery ice cream is completely fine. This is to help you get the perfect soft- serve at home.

  1. Use less water, more ice. The more water you use in the formula, the more the ice cream will soften.
  2. Keep your freezer below -18℃(-0.4℉).
  3. Add pre-mixed ice cream powder to your mix, this will give you a better texture without watering it down or making it too rich.
  4. You can add extra egg yolks to your mix for richness and body, just be aware that it will make the mix more temperamental and a little harder to work with.
